Enjoy and get to know one of the most important islands in the Gulf of Nicoya: Isla San Lucas. It is only 5.4 nautical miles from Puntarenas. Isla San Lucas is not only recognized for its stage as a Penal Center, declared in 2008, a Wildlife Refuge, it has a great biodiversity of flora and fauna typical of a Tropical Dry Forest. The tour is structured in three stages, in such a way that you can get to know the most important parts of this beautiful island.
In this tour you will have included:
- Transportation (San José-Puntarenas-San José) with civil risk insurance. We have the option of taking the tour in Puntarenas.
- Specialized guide
- Breakfast, snack type, on board the bus: juice, sandwich ham and cheese and cracker.
- Boat with civil risk insurance and navigability permit up to date, according to regulations of the maritime transport authorities of our country.
- Entrance to the prison
- Typical lunch and dessert.
- Fruits on the way to the island.
- Unlimited consumption of natural drinks.
- Bottle with water for the tour inside the prison
- Duration 10 hours
Itinerary:
- 7:30 am: Departure from San José
- 10:00 am: Arrival at the Puntarenas pier
- 11:00 am: I stage of the route (approx. 2 hours duration): Bitterness street, the Dispensary, the Church and the main part of the cells are visited. Then, you walk to the bullring and the different trails to Tumba Botes beach and Hacienda Vieja are taught.
- 1:00 p.m.: lunch
- 2:00 p.m.: II stage of the tour (approx. 2 hours): tour to Tumba Cocos (optional). The path that goes to Tumba Botes is recorded; in which, the visit to the Colony and also to the beach is included.
- 15:30: III stage of the tour (approx. 45 minutes): boat tour and sighting of: Tumba Botes beach, Isla Pájaros (bird watching) and Hacienda Vieja and Limonal beaches.
- 4:45 p.m.: Return to the pier
- 17:00 to 18:00: Stop at the kiosks (Churchill)
- Arrival in San José 8:00 pm

- A group of 10 people or more is considered (different cancellation policies apply).
- For all reservations, the following information will be requested: name of the people, pick-up, date of the tour, if they leave San José, or if they arrive at the pier.
