Carara National Park

It has the only transition forest in the Central Pacific, which gives it greater biodiversity. It is a world famous destination for bird watching, where you can enjoy the beautiful Scarlet Macaw.

Having easy access allows you to enjoy day tours for that ideal getaway and have contact with nature.

Main activities:

  • Universal access path: adapted according to law 7600 of Costa Rica.
  • Las Araceás Trail; circular trails to observe the plants that give it its name.
  • Laguna Meandrica Trail: It owes its name to a meander formed by the Tárcoles River and a Lagoon. Ideal for observing crocodiles.
  • Quebrada Bonita Trail: Its main attraction is the ravine that gives it its name, ideal for observing huge trees.
  • Encounter of Ecosystems Trail: trail that connects the Quebrada Bonita trail and the Universal Access Trail ideal for bird watching.

Fares Nationals or Residents:

  • Adults ¢1,000
  • Children from 6 to 12 years old ¢500

They must present an identity card at the time of entering the Park.

Adults over 65 years of age presenting an identity card do not pay a ticket for entry.

 

Fares Foreigners or  Non- Residents:

  • Adults $10
  • Children $5

Cash is not accepted, payments are made by debit or credit card only on site.

Access: All types of vehicle.

​From San José, take route 27 towards Caldera. After the last toll in Pozón, take the exit towards Tárcoles - Jacó (route 34). Continue for about 14 km. The Park is located 2 km from the Río Tárcoles bridge on the road to Jacó.
